However, there's no need to put up with moths destroying your clothes for they are actually much easier to get rid of and prevent than many other unwanted insects.

The Pet Health Council (PHC), originally established in 1969, are an amalgamation of ten dedicated Associate Organizations, who together seek to inform and offer advice regarding the spread of disease between animals and humans.

Their website is a comprehensive, one stop shop whereby pet owners can search for information relating to practically any pet concern, whether it’s with regards to their pet’s health or the effects their pets may have on members of the family.

Thinking about the pros and cons of a dog's coat isn't something we generally give enough thought to when looking for a new puppy or dog. Instead we often focus on their personality, how big they might grow or whether they are good with children. But a dog's coat type can have major implications to your lifestyle and as such, is an important consideration to think about when choosing your dog.

It's so rewarding watching your happy, healthy puppy bounding around, having fun and enjoying life. However, at some stage nearly all puppies are going to experience a bout of vomiting or diarrhea. Often there is nothing to worry about. Puppies and grown up dogs have sensitive stomachs and can vomit in reaction to something very minor. Alternatively it could be an indication of something more serious. There are many reasons why a puppy may vomit or suffer from diarrhea and some of the following causes can help you decide whether or not you should seek medical help.

Puppies grow at an incredible rate, with many breeds reaching their full adult size in as little as a year. During this period of rapid growth, puppies need around two and a half times more calories per unit of their body-weight than adults dogs. As such, it's vital your puppy is weaned onto suitable food capable of meeting their demanding nutritional requirements to ensure their optimum health and growth potential is reached.

Even when they've barely made their entrance into the world, kittens can have worms. Fortunately in the majority of cases, most worms won't pose a major threat unless they're left untreated. As such, it's important to understand the various ways that cats and kittens can pick up worm infestations as well as knowing what signs to look out for and the most suitable ways of treating them.

Kittens grow at an astounding rate, up to fifteen times faster than a baby. And by the time they are eight to twelve weeks old they should be independent and completely weaned off their mother. Once it's time to start weaning however, you'll need to provide them with an alternative source of food that's capable of meeting their nutritionally demanding requirements to help ensure they grow into a happy and healthy cat. So what foods should you feed your kitten when weaning. The rest of the article can be found here.
dog ears photo source blog.bestbullysticks.comDogs ears come in many shapes and sizes. Whether they are short and pointy or dangling on the ground, all dogs are susceptible to suffering from ear problems.

But it's the breeds with long, floppy ears and those with lots of fur around the inside of their ear canal that are more prone to ear problems. In fact, they account for up to 80 percent of all dogs suffering from ear infections. Some other common ear problems occurring in dogs include injury, hearing and allergies.

A new puppy brings a bucket load of love and affection into your home. But to make sure they stay in great condition, be prepared to spend time on their care and grooming.

Depending on the breed of puppy, grooming may take as little as five minutes a day or as long as half an hour. Basic grooming needs include caring for their eyes, ears and nose, nail clipping and teeth cleaning as well as bathing and brushing their coat.

No matter how careful you are with your dog's health, at some stage they are going to suffer from diarrhea. It's often impossible to know the exact reason for loose stools, especially if it's a one off episode. As such, you may need to use your own observations to gauge the seriousness of the situation. When trying to help your dog recover from diarrhea, it's usually recommended that they undergo a period of fasting after which time you can gradually reintroduce food.

As much as we love spoiling our dogs and treating them as one of the family, the fact remains, they are not human. As such, their digestive systems aren't equipped to deal with the wide variety of foods that humans eat. While they may look forward to a tasty piece of chicken skin or finishing off the remainder of your cake, you aren't doing them any favors in the long term. Aside from that, there are many foods that simply aren't suitable for dogs to eat while others are potentially fatal.

Just like humans, dogs also suffer from motion sickness. And as anyone who has ever spent time in a car with a vomiting dog will testify, it's not a pleasant experience. Apart from vomiting, telltale signs of motion sickness include barking, whining, jumping up, changing position or tearing at the upholstery. Behavior such as this can make it nearly impossible taking a dog on any car journey. Fortunately, once you understand the reasons behind your dog's actions, you can take steps towards helping him learn how to become a better traveler. Some breeds of dog are instantly recognisable by their coat. It's what distinguishes them from other breeds. The poodle for instance, is unique with its tightly curled woolly coat or an Old English Sheepdog with his shaggy, gray and white mane of hair. While it may appear that dog's coats come in all sorts of varieties, they are in fact distinguishable by only two types of coat – a single coat or a double coat.

The BARF diet (biologically appropriate raw food) or ‘bones and raw food’ in layman’s terms, is based on the idea that dogs should eat a diet based on raw food and bones, just as their ancestors once did in the wild.

Advocators of this diet believe it's the healthiest and most natural diet for dogs. However, it's not just a case of giving Fido a bone and letting him get on with it.

There is an obesity epidemic among the canine world. Around 50 percent of dogs in the US and UK and 40 percent in Australia are clinically obese. These are shocking statistics and they appear to be mirroring the human race.

These days we're all better informed of the detrimental consequences to our health of becoming overweight. And it's no different for dogs. For your dog to remain in peak condition throughout his life, it's important he maintains a healthy weight.

Find out the effects on your dog if he's overweight, what might have made him that way, how to tell if your dog's overweight and what to do about it if he is.
