Teaching children the importance of cleaning their teeth from an early age will not only help keep cavities at bay, it instills a routine which becomes as natural as getting dressed in the morning. However, most adult toothpastes are too strong for young children. As such, toothpastes aimed at those under the age of six tend to be specially mild or even fruity flavored to encourage teeth cleaning. By the time they turn six though, it's time to move onto something a bit more grown up. This is where Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste for children helps them make the transition to more adult toothpastes.
The Sensodyne brand initially became well known for their special toothpaste which was designed to help people with sensitive teeth. It contains an ingredient called strontium chloride and when used regularly can help provide relief from the pain of sensitive teeth. Since then, Sensodyne have developed quite a few other types of toothpaste catering for different markets including the Sensodyne Pronamel range. However, the children’s version doesn’t contain strontium chloride as it’s not specifically designed for sensitive teeth.
Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste for Children was developed by dentists and is specially formulated for children between the ages of 6-12. It contains sodium fluoride (1450 ppm fluoride) which is a similar level of fluoride as that found in most adult toothpastes. Some of the benefits of this toothpaste include its ability to help protect against cavities and acid erosion as well as helping to harden tooth enamel.
Protecting young teeth against acid erosion is perhaps even more challenging that it once was. Today's eating habits often include frequent snacking between meals. This puts teeth under constant exposure from acids in the foods and has the effect of temporarily softening the outer enamel coating of the teeth. Because Sensodyne re-hardens softened tooth enamel, teeth are better protected against further acid attacks.
Sensodyne Pronamel for Children is designed for everyday use in place of regular toothpaste and can be used up to four times a day if necessary. Although the recommended age group for this toothpaste is between six and twelve, it can be used in smaller amounts by younger children if, for any reason, they’re at greater risk of suffering from cavities or acid erosion.
The toothpaste is packaged in a chunky 50ml tube with a wide screw top lid, in keeping with the rest of the Pronamel range. This type of lid is easy for small hands to open and it causes less mess than some other lid types. It's also particularly useful for standing the toothpaste tube upright on a shelf. The toothpaste is still mild enough for young children not to be put off. And although it’s described as having a gentle mint taste, it seems to have a faint resemblance to aniseed, which is quite nice and refreshing.
Sensodyne Pronamel for Children is one of few toothpastes which cater specifically for children between the ages of six and twelve. In many cases, junior toothpastes exist only for younger children, after which time they are expected to move to adult toothpastes. Unfortunately, these are often too strong and can put children off teeth cleaning altogether. Sensodyne Pronamel for Children provides the mildness of a child’s toothpaste but offers all the protection of an adult’s toothpaste while helping to re-harden teeth to protect against decay. It’s may be slightly more expensive than other children’s toothpastes but it’s an all round good quality product.

About Me!
Hi and thanks for visiting my blog!
My name's Caroline and I live in London. I'm a freelance writer and nutritionist, so you'll find a lot of my articles are health based.
I'm also passionately interested in skincare. Although the food we eat has the most noticeable effects on our skin, the skincare products we use has a large part to play.
As such, I often write product reviews and other articles on dealing with skincare and anti-aging.
I hope you enjoyed your visit here and come back soon :-)
