L’Oreal, the international skincare company, is continually researching, developing and improving their ranges of products in order to keep us looking youthful. It seems every few weeks there’s another product launch or new advertising campaign for one of their new and innovative skincare moisturizing creams. It’s pretty persuasive stuff. But to keep its customers loyal, they need products that work. So do they? This product review discusses the findings from using one of L’Oreal’s products from the Wrinkle De-Crease range called Collagen Filler Eye.

Wrinkle De-Crease

L’Oreal’s Wrinkle De-Crease range of skincare creams are enriched with collagen and developed to reduce the appearance of creases and wrinkles. L’Oreal make it clear on their website that the range has not been proven to permanently reduce wrinkles, so there should be no confusion if wrinkles still remain after using the product.

The promise

Wrinkle De-Crease Collagen Filler Eye is a cream designed to produce an immediate effect together with a gradual improvement of wrinkles with continued use. In this day and age of wanting instant gratification, it sounds ideal. Wrinkle De-Crease supposedly achieves this by softening and brightening dark under eye circles while the filling effect causes wrinkles and furrows around the eye area to appear smoother.  .

The ingredients

One of the key ingredients behind the promise is Hyaluronic Acid. This is one of the must have components of skin moisturizers because of the way it attracts large amounts of water into the skin, causing a hydrating effect. This makes the skin look plumper, which of course is great when trying to fill out wrinkles. The other key ingredient is Collagen Biospheres. These apparently absorb into the upper layers of the skin, whereby they swell up to nine times their initial volume on contact with water.

Packaging and contents

Because it’s an eye product designed to be used only around the eye area, it comes packaged in a small squeezable  tube containing 15ml or 0.5oz. It has a fine nozzle so you can extract just the right amount for each application and the entire tube should last around six months with daily use. This lightweight cream is white when it emerges from the tube, but once it’s smoothed onto the skin, it appears to change to a pale skin tone color.

How it works

Having tried out countless under eye creams over the years, none of them ever living up to the promise on the packet, I can honestly and happily say that L’Oreal’s Wrinkle-Decrease Collagen Filler Eye is the best eye cream I’ve used.

For the past eight weeks I’ve been applying this eye cream twice a day by dotting small amounts around each eye contour. It’s a dream to use. It easy to control how much comes out of the tube and you only need a tiny amount. As mentioned earlier, the cream is white but once it’s spread onto the skin, it changes color and almost acts as a camouflage. This certainly helps with minimizing darker areas in the eye socket area.

However, what is really impressive about this cream is its ability to soften expression lines around the eyes. So many eye creams say they will reduce lines or make them less obvious, but I’ve never noticed lasting difference. L’Oreal’s Collagen Eye Filler does seem to reduce the appearance of lines around the eyes after applying, which is especially noticeable when smiling. And as the weeks have gone by, there is a definite overall improvement on wrinkle depth.

As an effective under eye cream, L’Oreal’s Collagen Filler Eye performs exceptionally well. Although somewhat skeptical at first, possibly due to the product’s name which almost sounds as if it’s some sort of building repair putty, and also due to not having had much success in the past with other eye creams, this is a definite repurchase and it's highly recommended.
