L’oreal, the gigantic cosmetics brand with one of the most memorable catchphrases of recent times, ‘Because you’re worth it’, are enormously popular, no doubt considerably helped by the famous ‘names’ used to promote their products. And L’Oreal Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkle Repair day lotion followed the trend with a long running advertising campaign featuring the elegant and virtually line-free Andie MacDowell. But does all this make the product worth buying?
L’Oreal Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkles is one of the dermo-expertise anti-aging skin care range and is targeted at women, possibly those of advancing years, who have the type of etched in lines that one would assume no amount of cream is going to remove. However, L’Oreal are convincing, if only from the outside.
The claims
The outer packaging, a smart red and white cardboard box, informs the reader that Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkles is a restoring, intensive anti-wrinkle and firming day cream. There is a helpful description explaining what a deep-set wrinkle is and how it got there. This could certainly be beneficial for ladies who are perplexed by those strange ingrained lines on their face.
Further explanations show how the key ingredients set about combating wrinkles by reinforcing the skin’s surface structure and restoring moisture whereby “The skin appears rejuvenated and smoother, even deep-set wrinkles appear reduced and skin feels tangibly firmer”.
So it seems that skin will ‘appear’ to have these benefits, but don’t count on it actually achieving them! To give some idea of what to hope for, there are also a couple of before and after photos which apparently show a ‘visualization of the expected results’.
Main ingredients
The lotion contains a well known buzz word in skin care, pro-Retinol A, which is proven for its wrinkle reducing properties. The other main ingredient is fibro-plastyl which aims to help reinforce the skin’s surface structure while restoring moisture. And it also contains an SPF of 15 as every good moisturizer should.
The bottle
The lotion is packed in an easy to hold, slim-line plastic bottle with a press down pump dispenser on top. The lid can be twisted to one side which is supposed to keep the contents air tight. However, this doesn’t prevent whatever’s left in the nozzle from clogging. This means each morning the first drop of cream is dispensed as a near solid lump.
The lotion
Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkles has a light and pleasant fragrance and although it emerges as a pale pink color, once it’s applied it appears to be white. Smoothing it onto the skin is quite hard work. Considering it’s a day cream, it’s very thick and therefore needs to be rubbed in quite thoroughly before it properly sinks in. Even then, unless you carefully inspect your face, it is possible to end up with white marks if it hasn’t been completely blended.
Once the lotion is applied, it dries reasonably fast to a non-sticky finish. But because the lotion is quite thick, it’s easiest applying foundation before the cream has completely dried. Waiting until it’s dried and then putting foundation on seems to cause it to flake off and it can be difficult achieving an even coverage.
Results
Having reached the end of a bottle which has lasted me approximately six weeks of daily use, I have to confess, just by looking at my skin, I can’t actually see any noticeable difference to the lines on my face. Then again, my wrinkles aren’t particularly deep-set, so maybe that’s why. But on a positive note, I do notice that my skin feels somewhat firmer after I’ve applied the cream and overall my skin appears to be in extremely good condition. Whether this is down to the lotion is hard to say, but it hasn't done any harm.
L’Oreal Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkles would be a nice moisturizer for anyone who prefers a richer day cream as its consistency is more akin to a night cream. Because of this, applying it involves rather more work than regular, lightweight daytime moisturizers. While it seems to do a good job with firming the skin, whether or not there is a visible difference to wrinkle depth is always going to be subjective.
Naturally, L’Oreal recommend using Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkles repair day lotion in conjunction with Revitalift Night so perhaps that may improve results. Price-wise it’s not expensive, ranging between $15-$20 depending on where it’s purchased, so it could certainly be worth it for some.

About Me!
Hi and thanks for visiting my blog!
My name's Caroline and I live in London. I'm a freelance writer and nutritionist, so you'll find a lot of my articles are health based.
I'm also passionately interested in skincare. Although the food we eat has the most noticeable effects on our skin, the skincare products we use has a large part to play.
As such, I often write product reviews and other articles on dealing with skincare and anti-aging.
I hope you enjoyed your visit here and come back soon :-)
